Interview on SBS radio- UNESCO Elections

Former French Minister of Culture Audrey Azoulay won the post of Director of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) after the final vote of the Executive Board of the Organization on Friday, 13 October 2017.

In this way, the candidates of Egypt and Qatar lost this tour after a struggle for the post has not been without the quarrels and tension between the two countries on the official and popular levels.

This came only a few days after the United States announced its withdrawal from the international organisation followed by Israel with the same position.

On all these issues, Iman Riemann spoke with Professor Fethi Mansouri, chair of UNESCO and director of the UN Uni-Twin Network.

I asked him firstly whether the Egyptian-Qatari conflict had led to the loss of both of them.
